Medicine Safety and the Outpatient Pharmacy

Medicine Safety

Medicine is an important part of medical care. Nurses do five checks each day to keep your child safe. We invite you to follow along and ask questions. If you notice anything odd about their medicine, please let your nurse know as soon as possible!

Outpatient Pharmacy

The pharmacy in the West Building can fill prescriptions so you can pick up your or your child’s medicine before leaving the hospital. They often hold or make prescriptions that can be hard to find. Talk with your child’s care team about medicine or other pharmacy items needed at home. If you want to pick up your prescriptions there, tell your care team a couple of days before discharge.

The hospital pharmacy takes various health plans including California Children’s Services (CCS) and Medi-Cal.
